Tender cabbage leaves are wrapped around a savory filling made with seasoned ground beef, onion, garlic, and herbs, then baked in a rich tomato-based sauce until tender and flavorful. They’re satisfying, family-friendly, and perfect for meal prep.

Ingredients

For the cabbage rolls:

1 large green cabbage
1 lb (450 g) lean ground beef
½ small onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 large egg
1 tsp dried oregano
1 tsp Italian seasoning
½ tsp black pepper
½ tsp paprika
½ tsp salt

For the sauce:

1½ cups crushed tomatoes, no added sugar
1 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
2 cloves garlic, minced
½ tsp turmeric
½ tsp dried oregano
¼ tsp black pepper
Salt to taste
Instructions
Prepare the cabbage: Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Carefully place the cabbage into the water and cook until the outer leaves become soft and flexible. Remove the leaves and set aside to cool.
Make the filling: In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, egg, oregano, Italian seasoning, black pepper, paprika, and salt. Mix until just combined.
Make the rolls: Place a portion of the meat mixture onto each cabbage leaf. Fold in the sides and roll tightly.
Prepare the sauce: Combine crushed tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, turmeric, oregano, black pepper, and salt.
Bake: Spread some sauce in the bottom of a baking dish. Arrange the cabbage rolls seam-side down and pour the remaining sauce over them.
Cover and bake at 375°F (190°C) for about 45–55 minutes, or until the beef is fully cooked and the cabbage is tender.
Let rest for a few minutes before serving.
