Ingredients For the bread

• 2¼ tsp instant yeast (7g)
• ¼ cup sugar (50g)
• 1 tsp salt (5g)
• ¼ cup melted butter (55g)
• 1 cup warm milk (240ml)
• 1 large egg (50g)
For the beef filling
• 1½ cups minced beef (225g)
• ½ cup diced onion (75g)
• ½ cup diced green pepper (75g)
• ½ cup diced red pepper (75g)
• 1 tsp minced garlic (5g)
• 1 tbsp cooking oil (15ml)
• ½ tsp black pepper (1g)
• 1 tsp paprika (2g)
• ½ tsp seasoning powder (2g)
• Salt to taste
• 1½ cups grated mozzarella or cheddar cheese (150g)
For brushing
• 1 egg (50g)
• 1 tbsp milk (15ml)

Instructions

Combine the flour, yeast, sugar and salt in a bowl. Add the warm milk, egg and melted butter, then mix into a soft dough.
Knead for about 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover and leave in a warm place until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Heat the oil in a pan. Add the onion and garlic and sauté briefly. Add the minced beef, peppers, paprika, black pepper, seasoning and salt. Cook until the beef is fully done and the mixture is fairly dry. Allow it to cool.
Punch down the dough and divide it into 6 equal portions. Roll each portion into an oval.
Fold the edges inward and pinch the two ends to create a boat shape, leaving the centre open.
Place the dough boats on a lined baking tray. Fill each centre with the beef mixture and generously sprinkle with grated cheese.
Mix the egg and milk and lightly brush the exposed dough edges.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 18–25 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Allow to cool for a few minutes, then serve warm
