Oven should be preheated to 400°F (200°C) and the baking sheet should be lined with parchment paper.
Chop the cabbage into a fine shred and then gently press to remove the excess moisture with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
Put the lean ground beef, the shredded cabbage, the egg, the cheddar cheese, the breadcrumbs, the minced garlic, the paprika, the garlic powder, the Italian seasoning, the salt, the black pepper and the parsley into a large bowl.
Gently mix all the ingredients together using clean hands or a spoon until they are evenly combined.
Split the mixture into 4 equal parts and form each part into a thick patty in the shape of a burger.
Put the patties onto the baking sheet that has been prepared, making sure to leave some space between each one.
To help the tops brown well in the oven, gently brush them with olive oil.
Bake for 15 minutes and then flip each patty carefully.
Bake for an additional 10 to 15 minutes, or until the burgers are fully cooked and have a good brown colour on both sides.
If you want a golden top, then switch to the broiler for the last 1 to 2 minutes and watch them carefully to make sure they don't burn.
Take the cabbage burgers out of the oven and let them stand for 3 to 5 minutes before serving.
It can be served with fresh parsley, a side salad, roasted vegetables or your preferred burger sauce while warm.
