Keto Stuffed Cabbage Bowls

Melty cheese, juicy seasoned meat, and tender cabbage make a simple, low-carb supper!

Preparation Time : Fifteen minutes

Cook Time : Twenty-five minutes

Total Time : Forty minutes

Serving : 4

Ingredients:

One pound (450 grams) of ground beef
½ chopped medium green cabbage
One little onion, chopped finely
Three minced garlic cloves
One cup of low-carb tomato sauce
One teaspoon of paprika
One teaspoon of Italian seasoning
Half a teaspoon of salt
One-half teaspoon black pepper
One tablespoon of olive oil
One cup of mozzarella cheese, shredded
Half a cup of cheddar cheese, shredded
Two tablespoons of freshly chopped parsley
2 tablespoons water or beef broth, if necessary

Instructions:

Brown the meat. In a big skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Use a spatula to break up the ground meat while it cooks until browned.
Add aromatics: Add minced garlic and diced onion and stir. Cook until aromatic, about 2 to 3 minutes.
Add chopped cabbage, paprika, Italian spice, salt, and black pepper to cook the cabbage. Cook, stirring frequently, until the cabbage starts to soften, about 5 to 7 minutes.
Pour in the sauce: Add the low-carb tomato sauce. Mix everything together. If the mixture seems too dry, add a little water or beef broth.
Simmer: Until the cabbage is soft and the flavours blend together, cover and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, stirring now and then.
To make it cheesy, evenly distribute cheddar and mozzarella on top. The cheese should be totally melted and gooey after two to three minutes under cover.
Finish: Serve hot, right from the skillet, garnished with fresh parsley.

Expert Advice:

The cabbage should be soft but yet slightly firm, so avoid overcooking it.
Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for flavour.
To keep the meal keto-friendly, use a low-carb, sugar-free tomato sauce.
Broil the skillet momentarily until the cheese is brown and bubbling for an extra cheesy finish.
